Emirates Flight Catering to set up world’s largest halal sous vide plant in Dubai
Prior to setting up the manufacturing plant, EKFC and CSI will co-invest to become the UAE's sole distributor of sous vide products.
Emirates Cuisine Solutions, a new joint venture between Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) and US-based Cuisine Solutions (CSI), will set up the world’s largest halal sous vide manufacturing facility in Dubai.
The food manufacturing facility is expected to be operational in 2022, EKFC said in its website.
While EKFC is one of the world’s largest catering operations with 11,000 employees, Cuisine Solutions in Washington DC is considered to be the pioneer on sous vide – an innovative technology where food is processed under vacuum.
“Introducing the distribution of sous vide products into the UAE market, swiftly followed by manufacturing in a Dubai-based facility, affords us the opportunity to secure a local supply chain of high-quality products,” Saeed Mohammed, CEO of Emirates Flight Catering said in a statement.
Felipe Hasselmann, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cuisine Solutions Inc. said: “Our joint venture will encompass the entire GCC / Africa region.”
“Equally impressive in this new joint venture, is our second phase, which includes the construction of the world’s largest halal sous vide manufacturing facility. The new Emirates Flight Catering – Cuisine Solutions partnership installation must naturally happen in Dubai,” he added.
